BENNI DIEZ was born on Nov. 19th 1979 in Starnberg, Bavaria in Germany and grew up in the surrounding countryside of Aschaffenburg, where he discovered his love for horror and science-fiction filmmaking in the early 90s.
Amazed by the groundbreaking developments in the visual effects industry, he started working for local agencies and production companies, honing his computer craphics skills.
In 2002 he began his studies at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Germany’s most renowned film school in the field of visual effects and animation, and graduated in 2007.
From 2008 to 2011 he was CEO of Kingz Entertainment, a production company specializing in visual effects for commercials (Toshiba, Shell, Audi) and feature films (Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia”).
In 2011, Benni decided that working on commercials took too much time away from being a filmmaker. He left the company and went back to freelancing and pursuing his own projects.
In 2012, he shot a promotional Teaser for the U.S. Script „Stung“, that lead to financing the feature film as a German/U.S. co-production. The movie has garnered favorable reviews since its world premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival and is set for international release through 2015.

Benni Diez lives in Cologne, Germany.
